Beto O'Rourke Crashed Kacey Musgraves Set To Hand Her Beer

Well, that escalated quickly. During her set at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Kacey Musgraves accepted a beer from Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke -- and now fans are calling it a political endorsement.

And Just Like That, She Was Thirsty

Ten songs into her set during the festival's second weekend, Musgraves suddenly became thirsty.

"Honestly, I could use a drink," Musgraves said into her mic. "Is there any beer or anything out there?"

As if on cue, former presidential hopeful Beto O'Rourke appeared from stage right and handed Musgraves her much-desired beer. After Musgraves took a couple of sips, the pact was made -- and both parties were happy.

Fans Took It As A Sign

Fans of both O'Rourke and Musgraves have embraced the brewing partnership, with an official TeamBeto account even going so far as to call it a political endorsement.

O'Rourke, who vied for the Democratic nomination for President in 2020, is currently opposing Texas governor Greg Abbott in the 2022 election. O'Rourke has been trailing in the polls.

Musgraves' Position Is Clear

Musgraves, who grew up in Golden, Texas, has been outspoken about her political affiliations. Just a week before her moment with O'Rourke, she tweaked the lyrics of her song High Horse during Weekend 1 of the Austin City Limits Festival.

"Cause everyone knows someone who kills the buzz, every time they open their mouth – Ted Cruz," she sang. She then added, "I said what I said," drawing cheers from the audience.

The 2022 general election, which will decide the fate of Abbott and O'Rourke, will be held on November 8. Early voting will begin Monday, October 24 and run until Friday, November 4.

Overall, Kacey Killed It At ACL

Musgrave's moment with O'Rourke is not the only part of the festival that has garnered attention. She also turned heads with her headlining outfit.

For her headlining appearance, Musgraves rocked a sheer brown frock that exposed her right leg. She brought it all together with a bold necklace and white cowboy boots chosen by stylist Erica Cloud. It was a perfect synthesis of country and pop, traditional and modern, as would befit a contemporary country star.

Musgraves had hairstylist Giovanni Delgado to thank for her raven waves and make-up artist Moani Lee to thank for her contoured complexion.

Kacey also made headlines for leading her fans through a sing-a-long of Dreams by Fleetwood Mac about an hour into her performance on Sunday. Of course, she complemented the cover with her most beloved hits from 2021's Star-Crossed, as well as from previous albums, thus making for a memorable set overall.
